redesigning the dashboard experience for samsung’s internal learning platform

Evolving from simpler projects that gave me an introduction to agency life, through to me taking full ownership of the UX work, Samsung Backstage was a constant during my 3 years

As part of the transition from version 2.0 to 3.0 I was tasked with optimising the dashboard and making it more engaging, easier for users to understand their progress, and quicker for users to get into the most relevant content and learning programmes.

The solution was to completely re-design the dashboard, turning it from a standard newsfeed, into a sleek, modernised experience leaning heavily on current social media trends and gamification techniques.

The updated experience started with easier access to learning categories via a side scrolling carousel, positioning them as the most important part of the platform.

Secondly, a leaderboard feature gave users a quicker overview of their account status and encouraged further engagement..

I also developed a new ‘Don’t Miss Out’ module to highlight the most important parts of the platform, such as live streams or product launch learning modules. This was designed in the style of social media apps like Instagram or Tik Tok, tapping on the module expands it into a full screen experience.

To push further user engagement with the learning programmes, I designed two potential new modules. The first, ‘Jump Back In’, utilised the  gamification principle that users are more likely complete a task when they’re given a progress bar, which acts as a motivator.  The second module,  ‘Recommended Learning’, was designed to promote learning programme suggestions specific to each individual user.
